about

An extended version of "rising from the lake" from the "shades of fog" album. Another fan request... which I'm always happy to oblige when I can!

Most of these environmental pieces are created in one sitting, slowly evolving over the course of several hours. The end result is usually an hour long "environment" which gets edited down for release on an album. I love being able to provide something much closer to what I experience as I sit in the music for a long time making it....for those who want to linger in these worlds with me.

I'm always surprised at how easily my breathing is manipulated by the slow waves of color in this kind of music. This piece in particular seems to keep rotating and falling nearly into silence in ways that I really love.

The cover art is a photo from Great Pond in nearby Kingston, NH on a cold fall morning as the fog started to lift off the water in the warming daylight. Jeff Oster and I had gone for coffee and we stopped by the water to watch the fog drift across the lake in front of the fall colors.
